The Knowle Park Trust developed our byelaws for Knowle Park in anticipation of the site’s public opening in May 2023.
In creating these byelaws, the trustees have considered the need to balance public enjoyment of the park with protection of ecology and access for all park users.
These byelaws may be updated occasionally as the park comes into full use. Any changes will be notified here, on our social media pages, and the park noticeboards.
Well-behaved dogs are welcome in Knowle Park. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times on footpath 393 (running through the middle of the site between Knowle Lane and Alfold Road) and in all parts of the park to the north of the public footpath (in the direction of Cranleigh High Street).
To the south of public footpath 393, dogs are permitted off the lead, but must be kept under close control at all times. Dog walkers must pick up and correctly dispose of all dog fouling.
Dogs must not be allowed to enter the lake or river (Littlemead Brook), to ensure the protection of wildlife including nesting birds, and to prevent flea treatment from contaminating the water, leading to the death of invertebrate life.
No fires or BBQs are permitted anywhere in Knowle Park.
Knowle Park contains large areas of grassland which represents a fire risk during the summer months.
Smoking is permitted in Knowle Park, but all cigarette butts must be disposed of safely in a suitable bin.
All litter, including cigarette butts, must be disposed of in a suitable bin.
If the bins in the park are full, you must take your litter home with you.
The lake is solely for wildlife and therefore no swimming, bathing, paddling, fishing or boating is permitted.
Cycling is permitted in Knowle Park but cyclists must give way to pedestrians at all times and cycle in a way that is considerate to other park users.
Use of drones, model aircraft and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is not permitted anywhere in Knowle Park.
