Happy New Year! We hope you all enjoyed the festive season.
Despite a few storms rolling in over Christmas, our visitors were undeterred, and the park was full of cheerful faces throughout the holidays.
Volunteer Sessions Have Resumed
Our volunteer sessions are back in full swing, and we’d love to see both familiar and new faces join us. We meet by Heartwork Coffee on:
-Tuesdays at 9.30 am
-Saturdays at 1 pm
There are plenty of tasks to keep us busy, such as pruning, tree planting, and clearing leaves. If you know anyone who might like to lend a hand, please encourage them to come along—no experience is necessary, just enthusiasm!
Spring & Summer Events – Your Ideas Wanted
We’re currently planning our Spring and Summer events programme, building on the successes of last year’s activities.
We’re eager to hear your suggestions—perhaps you’ve thought of a new workshop, guided walk, or family event that would bring our community together.
If you have any ideas, please email us at hello@knowlepark.org.uk. We can’t promise to accommodate every suggestion, but we’ll do our best to make them happen.
Upcoming Drainage Works
We’ve scheduled further drainage improvements as soon as the weather allows, focusing on the path connecting to Leighwood Fields and what has affectionately become known as the “muddy mile” on the Cranleigh parkrun route.
Thanks to last winter’s drainage work carried out by our dedicated volunteers and contractors, the paths are already in much better condition compared to last year. However, please remember Knowle Park is a country park, so suitable footwear is recommended, particularly after heavy rain.
A Warm Welcome Back to Harry and Sally
You may be pleased to hear that our resident mute swans, Harry and Sally, arrived in Knowle Park exactly a year ago. After spending the summer away to raise their six cygnets (born right here in the park!), they have returned to grace our lake again.
If you feed the swans, please do so only when they are on the lake. They’ve been a bit feisty around food lately and have even ventured out to the overflow car park!
Thank you for your continued support of Knowle Park. We look forward to seeing you soon at one of our volunteer sessions or simply enjoying a winter stroll.
We look forward to making 2025 another outstanding year for our park and community.
